Life has just gotten in the way.

So, it is with a sad heart I announce my retirement from designing.

A new product? No way!

Seriously...I have found that I have just enough mojo to scrap or just enough to design...and I have finally been able to scrap again!

I have actually entered the Amazing Digiscrap Race at NDISB and it has it has been so much fun. My partner courtney is A-Mazing.

So...I took a few of my favorites from the race so far and made them templates. So here they are:

Hi Everyone.

I am excited to bring you a new product this week.

It's called "Scrapbook Basics: Filler Pages"

I created this product with paper scrappers in mind. I mean, when I was paper scrapbooking I found that I would do one really detailed scrapbook page about a topic with just a few of my very best photos, but then I had so many other photos I wanted to include (but not "scrap") that I would insert page protectors with just photos in them -- maybe with a little journaling tucked in.

So...that's what these are. So...here's volume 1.

Speed Scrap, A Prize, and My First Kit

It's like I fell off the face of the earth.

Things have been sooooo busy.

Between creating banners and blinkies, and opening up a store at ScrapMatters...oh, yeah, and taking care of my SIX kids!!!! I don't feel like I even have time to breath!

But, I am excited to tell you that I have created my first little mini kit and I am super happy with how it came out.

If you would like to have it...it is being given away at a speed scrap next week at ScrapMatters.

If you haven't done a speed scrap yet...now is the time. It's super fun. You get an instruction every 10 minutes for an hour, then you have another full hour to scrap. You post your layout to the gallery a link in the forum and viola...you have just earned yourself this mini kit.

Project 365, Week 1

I am doing Project 365 and I really love how it's going. It has only been a week, but I really feel like when I am done, I am going to have a real snapshot of our life.

Here is my first weekly layout. I kept it clean and simple. I want it to be about the photos and the journaling. And since I am posting the journaling at the same time as my photo...it was cut and paste and so easy. I love it.

And don't you just love the embellishment pack Nicole at Sugarplum Paperie put together? It comes out tomorrow!!!

And here is another layout. I have really been wanting to do a photo using one of those cool photo masks...but it has been so hard! But, I like this one...and cute Katie, just makes me smile. As you can see I actually scrapped one of my weekly photos. I am looking forward to having the mix in my scrapbooks.

Got a layout done. I have been working on this one for a while, but it didn't come together for me until today.

I enjoy scrapping the new photos, but I try to fit in some of the older ones as I go. I hope to even get some scanned one day soon. haha.

I used JenLin's Science 101 kit and her News To Me Alpha.

And, in case you haven't heard, she is retiring, and her ENTIRE store is on sale, in a big way, until January 15th. So, now is time, because after that, she's gone!!!

I am pretty excited about it.

And, I am happy to say that I am current with Project 365 as well.

Not Enough Time

Britt (Britt-ish Designs) has a new template kit out, and it is so fun. It is called "Inspired by Kelsy Templates." There are four differnt templates, and each and every one of them rocks.

Trying to get all my Christmas pics scrapped. I am close.

I am also working on Project 365.

It is basically a photo-a-day, to catpure some piece of your life, everyday for a year.

I am hoping to post and blog about all my photos for the entire year, but of course, while I took the first two photos, I haven't had enough time to get them out of the camera.

I think I will be posting these on the family blog, but I am still trying to figure out the best way to preserve the memories...I was thinking of purchasing the actual Project 365 kit, but with all the problems surround that, I am going to look for a digital alternative.

But, as I figure out how to scrap them, I will post the pages here.

Welcome, welcome party goers.

So glad you have found me on the ScrapMatters birthday blog train.

I cannot belive that ScrapMatters is already a year old!

I am so excited that you have stopped here to celebrate with me.

Birthdays are a pretty special time in our family...we enjoy making everyone FEEL important on their birthday.

My favorite birthday tradition comes from my Korean heritage. On the first birthday we have a little ceremony and get dressed up in our Korean best.

Before the birthday child is placed three bowls...one holds noodles, one holds pencils and one holds money.

We then allow the child to choose their "destiny." The noodles symbolize long life, the pencils symbolize intelligence, and the money symbolizes wealth.

We have had four of our children choose pencils and two choose noodles. And of course, me being the classic overachiever, I choose pencils and money. LOL!

So, I just had to share...we had a speed scrap today at Scrap Matters. It was so fun.

A speed scrap? Well, you basically have two hours to scrap a layout. You get one instruction every 10 minutes for one hour (7 different instructions). After the first hour is over and all the instructions are given, you then have one more hour to finish your layout and get it into the gallery.

Well, I don't know, but I seem to thrive under pressure, and some of my best work is during these speed scraps.

So, I LOVED my layout so much, I just had to share!

This is Britt-ish Designs Mermaid Lagoon kit. Isn't it awesome?

BTW, I am hosting a speed scrap next week...I will give more details as it gets closer.

It's a pretty great way to get an entire coordinating album.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Elizabeth Barrett Browning. She is a wonderful poet. And this quote is wonderful.

I have taken some liberties with it, by making it a little shorter, and the original quote has BLUE EYES in it, but I figured she wouldn't mind if I also used brown, hazel, and green!

Obessions

Well, preparations for our vacation are in high gear. My husband left for Paris yesterday and I will join him on Tuesday.

I can't believe it! Of course, I am scared out of my mind to travel alone...I've flown a lot, and that's no big deal, but once I get to Paris I have to take the train from the airport and transfer on the metro three times to get to the hotel.

I know I sound dumb, but I am just nervous to do this by myself.

But, it is going to be such a great trip and I am excited to have this time alone with my husband.

Anyway, for those of you still reading, I have set the blog to publish while I am gone, so there will be at least a couple of posts next week.

Then we're back one day and make the drive from the east coast to the west coast. We're nuts!!!

Template 3 Freebie

Okay, this is the last of my crazy numbering and I will be all caught up.

This is a template based on the speed scrap I did the other night at ScrapMatters. It was so fun...and a little insane.

For me, I was not feeling my LO at all!!!! I actually did two other LOs and they were just not turning out, so rather than keep hitting my head on that same wall (see, she CAN be taught), I ran through my photos and found one that really inspired me and ran with it. So, third time was the charm.

If you are stuck on a LO, sometimes it helps to walk away. Also, I am a big believer in scrapping the colors of my photos to really highlight my photos. Sometimes, this doesn't always work, so in this LO, I actually took some of the color out so that I could use whatever colors I wanted and I wouldn't have to worry about it TAKING AWAY from the photo.

I have a little tradition that the last page of each scrapbook is a bum shot with the words "the end" on it. This is my first with my cute baby.

Crazy Life

Quick post just to say that life is INSANE here.

We are getting ready to start travelling for the next EIGHT weeks. Is that insane?

Hubby and I are headed to Paris next week (woo hoo!!!!). We haven't been away from the kids in 5 years!

Then we are making the long drive to the west coast to make the rounds of family and friends.

I have a few things ready to go, new word art and templates that I will post when I can.

Don't give up on me!

Challenge Word Art

I have been doing the Snap and Scrap challenges found in their forum.

They have a really neat (huge) kit, a different one every month that you can get in three ways...you can download one part from their newsletter, you can get one part by visiting their blog every day, and finally, you get the last part by doing their eight challenges (you get a piece for each challenge you complete).

This month's kit is so bright and fun, but, more than that, I love having inspiration and purpose when I scrap. Sometimes, it isn't enough to have a cute picture or a cute kit...you need a little direction or a push.

This is the same reasons I love the challenges at ScrapMatters!

So, this month's quote challenge at Snap and Scrap was to use one of four quotes on photography in a layout. (So thanks to Snap and Scrap for the inspiration!)

I really liked how my word art came out and decided to make all four quotes into word art.

So, here you go.

Woo hoo and a freebie (Template 4)

Hi all!

I spent all of May (literally) scrapping my buns off for ScrapMatters Queen of Scrap Contest.

It was a great experience! I have to say that I have never done so much scrapping in such a short period of time, and frankly, I NEVER want to do it again.

But it was a great experience (totally worth doing once!) and it really allowed me to get a sense of my own style and what I like.

Anyway. I WON!!!!!!!! (If you are interested, see here for details.)

So, I am going to be on the ScrapMatters Creative Team and I couldn't be more excited.

It is such a warm, friendly place to post your layouts, and everyone is really good about posting comments.

And, since I am rambling today, I will tell you that they are hosting a speed scrap tomorrow. (See here for details.)

A speed scrap? Yes. You login to the forum and get an instruction every 10 minutes, then at the end of one hour (6 instructions), you have one additional hour to finish your layout.

It is a blast and a really fun way to scrap. PLUS ScrapMatters is always so good about giving our participation prizes, and this is no exception...there is an adorable mini kit from Ellie Lash available (who BTW is the MOST AMAZING designer and currently has a freebie on her blog here).

Well, now that you have listened to me ramble for way too long, here's what you came for...template 4.

Hi all!

I just found out at my calendar LO was one of the winning LOs at Sunshine Studio Scraps! Woo hoo.

So, I thought I would share the word art I did to go with the calendar.

I did 31 days in paradise (since May has 31 days), but I included in the word art 30, 29, and 28 days. Just use your rectangular marquee tool to select the one you want for your layout.

Alyson P said that she was interested in seeing a template for a monthly page...this was actually something that I have been wanting to do. I thought this would make a great page by itself with some fun jounraling or tags for the pictures, but I have actually used all these pictures in other layouts for the month, so I am going to use this as a sort of cover page.

So, here is the template.

I actually deleted the squares that didn't go in my month, but you could leave them and it would still look great.

So, here is another template.

I am a pretty clean and simple scrapbooker. I admire people that can add a lot of different things to their LOs, but I don't know how to do that.

But I think this is a good, basic template that you can always add stuff to.

Also, I was wondering if anyone was interested in seeing what I have done with these templates.

My daughter just got hearing aids and it is so wonderful that she can hear again!
